Off to a wet start!
Hi All,
We are already into the second month of 2022, and we are finally having some summer weather. Not sure how long it will last as the skies are closing over again, and the weatherman says we should receive more rain than we need.
December boarding was not much fun for us or the dogs, with days and days of pouring rain. We thought we had the rain covered, as we had redone all the runs with astroturf, put in drainage and made separate digging areas and small built-in dams in the runs. How wrong we were! The astroturf never even got a chance to dry out during the day, and the digging patches became muddy swim areas. The kennel hands were suctioning the water out of the runs as fast as they could. The dogs didn’t need the new swim areas as everything became a swim area. Please forgive us if your dog was a tad smelly even though we groomed most of them. It seemed the astroturf had a strange smell about it that got into the dogs’ coats. However, the cats were all very comfortable in their runs!
With everyone not quite sure as to what the COVID regulations were going to be, a lot of folks left their bookings to the last minute and unfortunately we were not able to assist them. Especially with the individual dog runs and the cat runs.
This year we are building a new Tiny Dog Village up at our Sangster Road Branch. The village has been designed by an architect and is a complete eco-village with renewable materials, solar power and the lot. They are also perfectly North Facing, meaning summers will be nice and cool, and in the winter the suites are nice and toasty. Our village has been made specifically with small dogs in mind, thus giving them the ideal height and angles. The dogs will have their own space to run and have fun, a much bigger area than at our Devonshire Ave Branch with their own playground.
The daycare and boarding for the dogs at our Devonshire Ave Branch will close at the end of February, however you will still be able to drop your pups there in the morning and collect them in the afternoons. Our shuttle service will collect once the dogs have been dropped off by you and brought back in the afternoon. The dog area at Devonshire will be converted to new cat runs, which will enable us to board more cats this year. However, please get your bookings for Easter and December early so you won’t be disappointed.
Over the past three years, we fought tooth and nail to keep our rates the same. Unfortunately—due to inflation and the rise of operating costs—it is time for us to increase our prices. The change will take effect from the 1st of March 2022. We understand that price increases can be frustrating, but it is needed to maintain the high level of quality care that we provide your fluffy loved ones. I am sure you are all aware that Lorna left us at the end of November and Megan has taken over the admin work. You can get Megan on 011 463 0296 . As from the 1st March, the only way to make a booking will be online at https://attgroup.co.za. This applies to daycare, dog and cat boarding, grooming, and for the first time training as well. As we are moving to a completely online space, we will also not be issuing any invoices to customers.
If you are getting stuck whilst using our online platform, you can give Megan a call and she will guide you through.
Please reach out to us should you have any further questions.
Kind regards
Niki and the Animal Think Tank Group.
